>Offered here is an old and original pre-1950 TANGEE COSMETICS vintage store display, for Tangee Lipstick!! Please see all eleven photos, as they are an important part of my description. Acquired at an estate sale filled with wonderful vintage advertising items, this vintage Tangee Lipstick mirrored store display measures approximately 11" tall, 8 1/2" wide at the base, and 6" deep at the base; it weighs approx. 1 lb. 12 oz. This counter display utilized real wood with dovetail design at the base, and features slatted compartments on the backside for the store's lipstick storage (no lipsticks were found with the display); the bottom compartment is a bit different, and was probably intended for Tangee Rouge storage. The display's front features thin cardboard advertising for Tangee Lipstick, complete with a vanity mirror! Along the top of the advertising insert, it says "Only TANGEE has Satin Finish". It goes on to read: "Select your own best shades of TANGEE Lipstick and matching Rouge". Along the bottom of the insert, it advertises the different lipstick shades you could have purchased: Natural, Theatrical Red, Medium-Red and finally Red-Red. Each shade of lipstick is also described in detail! The display's backside has retained 3 of the 4 lipstick shade "titles" (the medium-red is no longer there). This grand-looking vintage cosmetics store display would have been utilized on a store's retail counter at a department store or cosmetics shop back in the day, and should be considered rather rare and believe it to be pre-1950 based on its styling and wood construction. Please read the history below... >History: Tangee Cosmetics was born during the 1920's, and still exists today. The company was formed by George Luft (George William Luft). The name "Tangee" came from the word "tangerine", because of the color of the brand's most iconic product: the Tangee natural lipstick. This lipstick is still a hit today because of its color-changing ability. Tangee's marketing was targeted towards women who wanted a natural-looking alternative to other heavier lipstick shades on the market. The iconic lipstick was also heavily marketed in World War II as being the perfect shade to compliment a uniform. During the 1940's, Tangee was featured in Vogue Magazine and became a popular cosmetic line for both adults and teens alike. Condition: this counter display is in *Fine Shape* overall, exhibiting only moderate age/handling faults...nice!! The wood slat at the display's top is a tad loose, but firmly attached. The wood shows light-moderate scratches, and could use some orange oil to rejuvenate. The cardboard advertising insert on the display's front shows light aging, including minor discoloration at the bottom. The vanity mirror is in fine shape, showing only a minimum of wear! As you can see, this vintage Tangee advertising simply displays great!!
