1953 Bendix Duomatic Store Display Record Player - Made by MiniTone Inc. Shipped with Canada Post Expedited Parcel. This store display record player would sit on the countertop of a 1950's furniture store or hardware store, & provide customers with the selling points of the Bendix Duomatic Washing & Drying Machine. The consumer would pull the small lever on the left, the mechanism would engage the needle, it would hit the record, & begin to play. The record itself is dated 1953; which is right around the time the Bendix Duomatic was released to the public. The only other record player I can find online, that was manufactured by Minitone Inc; is an antique standard oil can with a similar record player mechanism located inside of it. That particular record player, however, was not for sale. I believe this may be the only Bendix Duomatic store display record player left on the entire planet. If more than one was made, they were made in very limited numbers; I haven't been able to find anything even remotely similar, in the last 5 years. The record player has some scuffs & general wear. But, it's in great condition for its age. The record itself is a little dusty & could use a cleaning. The battery pack is not corroded & no batteries were ever stored inside of it. Due to the age & fragility, I have never tested this record player (for fear of damaging the miniature mechanism). This store display record player would make the perfect gift for any record player enthusiast or collector of store displays; even washing machine collectors would be intrigued by this unique piece of history.
